Pockets Project
porcelain castings, participants’ drawings on paper, Indianapolis, IN, 2013-2014
During a flea market in her neighborhood, Brickell exchanged porcelain castings of pockets for drawings people made of things they carry in their pockets. This exchange invited people to consider the portable, private space that we carry around in public and regularly experience through our sense of touch, but rarely see. The castings are created by pouring porcelain slip into the pockets of thrift store clothing to create solid objects out of this negative space.
